The Youth Bridge Organization organized and delivered a biographical session for 20 Yezidis women within the “Engendering Peace: a bridge between women in Iraq and Lebanon” project. This session aimed to help the Yezidi women survivors of ISIS to speak out and share the difficulties they have been through due to the captivity and the difficult situation they have been through in the displacement camps and after returning to Sinjar. This is part of the psycho-social support for these women to reduce stress and share their pain with others. Part of this session was also to see how powerful the Yezidi women are to endure so many challenges and hard situations and be able to support their families financially despite the challenges that women face in society. So many women from Sinjar had to leave school and work to feed their families after the war with ISIS and found themselves responsible for a family as their parents and older siblings were killed or murders by ISIS. All these situations created pressure for Yezidi women, and they need to speak out about their pain and challenges to reducing this pressure from time to time and also for the community to see what they are going through.
