The project to support education in the Shakaw village- Sinjar through the rehabilitation and equipping of the Shakaw Basic School and the implementation of educational activities for children for 5 months
The Shakaw Basic School is considered the only school in the village of Shakaw for Arabic and Kurdish studies, and because of the extent of the destruction incurred in the school as a result of the ISIS attacks, dozens of children were deprived of access to education, and others were forced to go to schools in other places very far from their area and were facing the danger of the long-distance walking and also the fatigue and costs in light of the weak economic condition of the returned families to Sinjar. Therefore, the Youth Bridge Organization, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development, completely renovated the school and equipped it with school furniture by the standards of the Ministry of Education and the returning of children to their school. This project has greatly contributed to the ease of children’s access to education, in addition to reducing transportation costs and the danger to children’s lives when walking to school in other villages. Youth Bridge Organization also organized different entertainment and education activities for children inside the school after the renovation to encourage students to return to education in the village.
