Sinjar area lacks so many rights and freedom, specifically, when it comes to the freedom of opinion and expression, youth, activists, and journalists cannot freely express their thoughts and opinions because their freedom is suppressed due to the marginalization they experience by the government. Therefore, the Youth Bridge Development Organization within the “Promoting Freedom of Expression and Opinion and the Pursuit of Justice and Equality in Service and Government Institutions in Sinja” project, carried out two training workshops entitled “Basic concepts of human rights and the right to freedom of opinion and expression.” The workshop aimed to educate youth about their right to freedom of opinion and expression and their ability to change society.

Discussions were exchanged with the attendees about the importance of freedom of opinion and expression, which is a prerequisite for preserving human dignity, following up on the manifestations of freedom of opinion and expression, and the conditions for restricting freedom of expression in accordance with international standards.

Freedom of opinion and expression is one of the most important human rights, and it is the basis for the democratic system of any country in the world, although this freedom is restricted by some controls and procedures for the purpose of regulating its use and maintaining national laws, public morals, public health, and public order.
