As part of the “Strengthening Community Resilience and Protection of Human Rights in Sinjar and West Nineveh” project, Youth Bridge Organization is conducting awareness workshops in schools to foster a more inclusive and welcoming environment for children returning to Sinjar after years of displacement. The prolonged displacement of families has significantly weakened social bonds within the community, leading to challenges such as division and exclusion among students in schools.
These workshops aim to rebuild trust and promote coexistence among students from diverse backgrounds. By addressing issues such as discrimination, bullying, and social exclusion, the sessions create opportunities for dialogue, empathy, and mutual understanding. Students are encouraged to embrace diversity, respect differences, and develop a sense of shared responsibility toward building harmonious school communities.
In addition to promoting coexistence, the workshops provide teachers with practical tools and strategies to support inclusivity in classrooms. This includes fostering peer collaboration, addressing conflict constructively, and creating safe spaces where all students feel valued and heard. By empowering both students and educators, the initiative contributes to long-term social cohesion and resilience within the community.
Through these efforts, Youth Bridge Organization is laying the foundation for a brighter future where schools serve as safe havens of learning and unity, ultimately helping children overcome the trauma of displacement and build stronger connections within their communities.
