Within the “Women Waving Peace” project, the Youth Bridge organized 9 sessions from July to December 2022, each for one day for youth in the Sinjar area about the Security Council Resolution 1325, women, peace, and security & 2250, youth, peace, and security UN resolutions.

These activities were organized as part of the implementation of the Italian national action plan of Resolution 2250, youth, peace, and security and Resolution 1325, women, peace, and security, with the aim of promoting the active participation of women and youth in peace processes through increased dialogue with civil society and promoting gender equality in Italy, the Middle East, and North Africa.

The main goal of delivering these 9 sessions was to raise awareness of the young women and men about the 1325 & 2250 UN resolutions and how these two resolutions can be used as tools to protect their rights.

Sahira, one of the participants in the training workshop said:  “this is the first time I heard of the 1325 UN resolution, and I did not know anything about resolutions that protect women’s rights like this one. I also learned about the concept of freedom, protection, and the importance of the role of women in peace processes, specifically after conflict.”
