As part of the “Strengthening Community Resilience and Protection of Human Rights in Sinjar and West Nineveh” project, Youth Bridge Organization is conducting awareness sessions and workshops for parents and school teachers on digital safety and how they can help create a safer online environment for children. These sessions address the growing risks associated with internet and mobile device use, equipping both parents and educators with the knowledge and tools to safeguard children in the digital age.
The workshops focus on several key areas, including educating parents on how to monitor and assess the content their children are accessing online. This includes identifying inappropriate or harmful material, understanding parental control features, and fostering open communication about online activities. For teachers, the sessions emphasize their role in raising awareness among students about safe internet practices. They are trained to guide students on how to navigate the internet responsibly, avoid harmful content, and protect their personal information online.
Participants are also introduced to the potential risks of cyberbullying, online predators, and misinformation, along with strategies to prevent and address these issues. Emphasis is placed on the importance of promoting positive online behavior, encouraging children to report any uncomfortable or harmful experiences, and fostering trust so they feel comfortable seeking help when needed.
By involving both parents and teachers, the initiative creates a collaborative approach to digital safety, ensuring that children receive consistent guidance and support both at home and in school. These efforts contribute to building a safer digital environment for children and empowering the community to address the challenges of technology responsibly, preparing children to navigate the digital world confidently and securely.
